Developing a print is not always straightforward.
At the moment I`m fascinated by rocks. Here´s a sketch:

Einen Druck zu entwickeln ist nicht immer ein gradliniger Prozess.
Im Moment faszinieren mich Felsen. Hier eine Skizze:

I`m not very happy with this drawing. It´s a bit dull, nothing to wonder or think about.
So I took some some parts of it and made a collage. The structure of the rocks interested me most.
I did it at the computer, but I could have done it with glue and scissors as well.

Ich bin nicht sehr glücklich mit dieser Zeichnung. Sie ist ein wenig langweilig, sie lässt nichts offen, nichts zum Nachdenke. Also habe ich einige Teile genommen und eine Collage gemacht. Es ist die Felsenstruktur, die mich am meisten interessiert. Ich habe es am Computer gemacht, aber Schere und Kleber hätten es auch getan.

I added some shadows. They will be printed as gradations. I decided to devide the print in three parts to give me more flexibility and make the printing process less difficult.
The size of the print will be 30cmx30cm each part.
Ich habe Schatten hinzugefügt. Sie werden als Farbverlauf gedruckt. Den Druck teile ich in drei Teile, um mehr Flexibilität zu haben und den Druckprozess zu erleichtern.
Jeder Druck wird 30x30cm groß.

This is not an exact copy of the small sketch. I wanted the brushstrokes to flow freely.

Now I cut the sketch in three pieces and glued them down on the woodblock. They are glued facedown to get the print right.

Dies ist keine exakte Kopie der kleinen Skizze. Ich wollte Pinselstriche, die frei fließen.
Nun schneide ich die Skizze in drei Teile und klebe sie verkehrt herum auf die Druckplatte. So erscheint der Druck seitenrichtig.

It´s a very thin paper, so I can see the drawing from the backside.

Es handelt sich um sehr dünnes Papier, sodass ich die Zeichnung von der Rückseite erkennen kann.

Kento mark

The next step is cutting the marks where the paper fits in.

Der nächste Schritt ist das Schneiden der Markierungen, in die das Papier eingelegt wird.

Now the fun part starts: cutting.
What will follow? Cutting, making a test print. Using it to define the plates for the shadows.
Then printing on washi paper. And hopefully it will be good.

Nun der schönste Teil: Schneiden.
Was kommt noch? Schneiden, Testdruck machen. Ihn benutzen, um die Platten für die Schatten festzulegen.
Dann der Druck auf Washipapier. Hoffentlich wird es gut.
